Saint Denis

My personal masterpiece, probably. I made this for an artbook that ended up being canceled with a saints & demons theme. I'm really into demons, so I decided to do the oppsite and draw a saint. While Googling around to find information, I learned about Saint Denis. He's awesome.

Saint Denis was a bishop in Paris who was martyred by decapitation. He picked up his head and walked six miles while preaching a sermon. What I like about him as an art subject is the question of where to put his halo. In many depictions, he's cradling his head in his arms and the halo is behind it. But in others, the halo remains where his head would have been. I really liked the idea of an empty halo.
